Tether Wallet is a self-custodial digital wallet for storing, sending, and receiving USD₮, USA₮, XAU₮, and Bitcoin. Unlike traditional apps, you stay in full control, your wallet lives on your device, and only you hold the keys. Tether cannot access or move your funds at any time. Every transaction is signed directly on your device before hitting the blockchain. Nothing leaves your phone without your approval. Your tokens. Your keys. We build the tool, you hold the power.
Your recovery phrase is a set of 12 words generated when you create your wallet, think of it as the master key to your assets. It's the only way to restore your wallet if you lose your device. It's created on your device and never shared with Tether in a readable form. If you lose it with no backup, your funds cannot be recovered by anyone. Keep it written down, stored somewhere safe and private. Never share it with anyone, not even someone claiming to be from Tether. Treat it like the key to a safe, because that's exactly what it is.
Tether Wallet offers two backup options. Cloud Backup (recommended): The app encrypts your wallet data on your device, stores the encrypted data on Tether servers, and saves the encryption key to your personal cloud account (iCloud or Google Drive). Neither party can access your wallet alone both parts are needed and only combined on your device when you log in. To restore, simply log in with your email on a new device. Manual Backup: Write down your 12-word recovery phrase and store it securely. To restore, enter all 12 words manually in the app. We strongly recommend cloud backup for the smoothest and most secure recovery experience.
Receiving: Share your @tether.me username for easy transfers between Tether Wallet users and LNURL-enabled Bitcoin wallets. For external wallets, select your token and network to get a wallet address or QR code. Sending: Tap Send on the home screen and enter a tether.me username, a blockchain address, or scan a QR code. Select your token, network, and amount, you'll see a full summary including fees before confirming. Note: All transfers are processed on the blockchain and cannot be reversed once confirmed. Always double-check the recipient before sending.
Tether Wallet charges zero fees for sending or receiving tokens. However, every blockchain transaction requires a small network fee, paid to the network, not to Tether. The amount varies by network and current traffic. Before confirming any transaction, you'll always see the exact fee, the amount the recipient will receive, and the total cost in both the token and its USD equivalent. Using 'Send Max'? The network fee is deducted from the amount sent, so the recipient receives slightly less than your full balance. The confirmation screen will make this clear before you approve.
Tether Wallet V1 supports: USD₮ (digital dollar, backed 1:1 by USD reserves), XAU₮ (digital gold, backed by one fine troy ounce of physical gold), Bitcoin (BTC), and USA₮ (a federally regulated US dollar-backed stablecoin). Available networks: USD₮: Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma, Arbitrum. USA₮: Ethereum. XAU₮: Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma, Arbitrum. Bitcoin: on-chain & Lightning (faster, lower-cost transfers). The app automatically shows compatible networks for each token, no need to memorize anything. Just make sure the other party uses the same network when sending or receiving.
To delete your account, go to Settings > Security > Delete Account. You'll receive a confirmation email with a secure link, clicking it permanently deactivates your account and removes all associated personal data, subject to legal retention requirements. Before deleting: transfer any remaining assets and write down your recovery phrase. Your encrypted backup will no longer be accessible after deletion. Need help? Reach our support team directly through the app via Settings. Important: Our team will never ask for your recovery phrase or cloud backup encryption details. If anyone claiming to be Tether support requests this information, do not respond.
